BEFORE YOU SHARE YOUR STORY...
LET ME TELL YOU MINE
My name is Ally. I am a canine photographer, dog trainer, owner and handler - and am always actively doing something with my own dogs. I currently live and have lived in michigan all my life. Living life with my husband, Evan, and our two dogs, who you will soon learn more about as you continue reading. Before I transitioned over to the dog world, I was actively showing and competing in various equine disciplines such as barrel racing and hunter jumping since 2008.
I got my first camera in 2014 and my love for photography has only grown since then. I started out photographing everything I could. However, my favorite subjects to photograph were and always will be animals, especially dogs.
In 2020, I started my journey in the pet care industry, working as a caretaker and receptionist at a dog daycare and boarding facility. A year later, I began taking my dog training career seriously. I earned three learning certifications pertaining to pet dog training (obedience, puppy raising, and canine body language). I have learned (and am always continuing to learn) several different training techniques from various trainers using various forms of methodology to help match each dog to their specific needs. In 2023, I graduated from Davenport University with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Although I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do at the time, I knew I wanted to do something with dogs.
Fast forward to now, I work full time as a dog trainer specializing in basic and advanced pet obedience, and (of course) run my own business specializing in canine photography. With that being said, I know firsthand some of the struggles that owners go through with their dogs. I hear so often that people are hesitant to book a photo session because their dog may not be well trained or even have any training at all. However, rest assured, I have developed an incredible amount of patience and have a better understanding of what can be achievable for each dog that steps in front of my camera. I also have a few tricks up my sleeve that I have learned from some incredible photographers to help capture incredible photos of dogs who may not particularly by well versed with training skills. I am determined and confident that I will be able to create beautiful photos for all dogs - well trained or not. Although I'm not training your dog during a photo session, my knowledge of dogs and truly doing my best to understand them, allows me to create the photos that I do.
Now let me tell you about my own canine counterparts. If you follow along on my journey - whether that's through my social media or on my website - you will often see the two furry faces pictured in the photo with me above. Fynn, my Golden Retriever, and Kenai, my German Shepherd.
These two have largely influenced me to pursue my passion as a canine photographer. From the start of both of their lives, having photos to look back on was important to me. My dogs are my family and having photos of them throughout their life stages was a must. I decided to offer photography services to others so that other owners can cherish and memorialize their pets in the same ways that I do with my own.
MEET FYNN
Fynn has impacted me in so many ways that I can't put them all into words. He is the very reason that I am a dog trainer and a photographer. He is the dog that sparked my undying love for these animals. As a dog trainer, I needed a dog that would be my "right-hand-man" and a demonstration for those who were interested in working with me as a dog trainer. Fynn is that dog for me: dependable, reliable, and predictable. I always know what I am going to get with him. However, don't let me fool you, he wasn't always this way! He is what I call my "heart" dog. He has been with me through some of the hardest and most challenging points in my life. He is the dog that I would pull out to help another dog gain some confidence or to socialize with a puppy. He's one of those dogs that are just truly good. For his job being my personal model, Fynn is the type of dog that you can stick wherever you want for a photo and will be more than happy to do it. When Fynn is not being my demo dog, model, and truly the best therapist, he loves to play fetch and does enjoy a good nap.
MEET KENAI
Kenai is my first German Shepherd and is also the first dog that I am doing sports with. I planned to try a variety of different sports with him, but we took a chance on PSA (Protection Sports Association) and he absolutely loved it. He is such a willing and determined dog. He is always eager to learn new things and loves to train. He is also learning how to be a good model, alongside the experienced Fynn, and I have no doubt that he will be just as wonderful. However, when Kenai isn't training or modeling for me, he loves a good chew session with his toys and also enjoys a good nap (Fynn has taught him well). Kenai has challenged me as a dog owner. He does not come without his faults. He is not friendly towards people he isn't familiar with or other dogs outside of those he lives with. Despite these struggles, he is truly one of the greatest dogs I have ever had the pleasure of owning. He has given me an invaluable understanding and respect for dogs like him.
